Merry Christmas!

we always take family portraits around this season - it's really fun to go and look back at the oldies. this year we just walked to the park across the street from where we lived, I set up the tripod - and snapped away. we don't usually have snow (it was actually ice) during winter in these parts of Texas, but this year we had plenty! this was our birth announcement from our Christmas photo shoot!

lake day

we headed to the lake with some dear friends while the weather was still warm. i love lake days! we packed a cooler full of good food & drinks, loaded up the kayak - and thanks to some kind strangers who let us use their sunscreen, none of the littles got sunburned (or me!).

first day of school

today was the first day back to school. this is my second year to teach primary at Hilltop Montessori, and I feel really blessed that sparrow gets to come to work/school with me! she has been at Hilltop since she was a year old and has really loved being in the toddler class!

A DAY AT THE FT.WORTH ZOO

so we decided to take sparrow to the zoo for her 2nd birthday! her actual birthday was on a Friday this year, so we met up with sparrow's poppi & nani & auntie paige! for now we have decided that sparrow's birthday presents (at least from us) are going to be experiences - and she is just at the right age to enjoy stuff like this now! we had so much and the zoo just had a brand new baby elephant! not gonna lie, elephants are my favorite! this weekend we have more family coming into town and are having a little picnic party on Saturday to celebrate her life!

jazz festival

I love these photos so much! this was from this past weekend - at the Denton's Jazz + Art Festival. it's always a favorite around here. tons of great music, beautiful friends + babies, plus all the good festival food - like funnel cake.

celebrating the fourth.

we were in colorado for the 4th of july, so unfortunately due to all the wild fires there were no fire works allowed. we were all a little bummed out, but still had a lot of fun at the downtown parade. and afterwards enjoyed a family bbq, and i made mini homemade strawberry shortcakes. a 4th of july tradition in our family! and we also had red, white, and blue snow cones!
