pumpkin village
a couple of weeks ago Christopher surprised me with tickets to the dallas arboretum! It's no shocker that I love surprises, and he is really good at surprising me. he is so romantic, sometimes I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole world. so naturally i was excited, but when we pulled up and he announced that during the fall it has the largest pumpkin patch and has the only pumpkin village in the world, i was just giddy. man, he's good.
the arboretum was beautiful, it overlooked white rock lake and was acres of woodsy secrets that we got to explore, there was even a poetry garden! and it had all of these little pumpkin houses that you could go inside and sit and talk if you wanted to, all named after fairy tales like cinderella and the legend of sleepy hollow, it was so adorable. and there were pumpkins and gourds everywhere!! I really want to go back around Christmas time and see how they spice the place up, I can just imagine it with Christmas trees and lights everywhere! It is naturally a very beautiful place, I just love to see how the seasons have an effect on a place. i love date days with Christopher, he usually works nights and will have a random day off during the week, so we always try to make that day a little special! we ended the day by eating stuffing ourselves at karma cafe, this funky eclectic place with the best hummus i have ever had! mmm, it was so good, with a food coma to follow!
love,

a love letter
while waiting for my plane back to Texas
i discovered this little love letter in my purse from my husband
Things I will miss while you're gone:
your smile
your laugh
your face
cuddling
waking up next to you
you being at freebirds waiting for me to get off
you whispering 'sushi'
you making fun of my shirts
your dramatic and entertaining exaggerations
playing games with you
your red hair
talks that we have
your presence in the room with me
sharing food with you
holding your hand while driving
you saying, 'no. no' when i tickle you.
your humor
the way you smell
the way you make me feel
what i will miss the most:
YOU. i love you.

i love when Monday's feel like Saturday's
we made omelets (mine a white-egg omelet) with onions, mushrooms, green chilies, and black beans
and spent the entire day enjoying my husband's company, laughing at silly inside jokes, holding hands,
playing scrabble outside, drinking iced milky-way hazelnut lattes,
and eating pomegranates.

You, who with long unruly hair
standing a foot taller than me
with a smile that melts and softens my heart
our fingers intertwine perfectly
You, who serves with kindness
and compassion
willing to sacrifice everything
making our family complete
You, who challenges me
and my beliefs of independence
who gently reminds me
we need each other
You, who encourages my heart
and mind and spirit to go and
reach places of love
i never thought possible
You, who always listen to my big and wild ideas
never calling me a dreamer
but wholeheartedly believe in me
and push me even further
You, who fills me
the strong branch, that protects and guides
who is grounded and rooted in love
not trying to find himself, but creating
You, who I call Husband
beloved, friend, and lover
who, is the song in my heart
and the light in my eyes
I love you Christopher, Happy 1 year anniversary.
